3D X-ray with digital volume tomography (DVT)
A DVT scan shows the jaw, teeth and course of the nerves three-dimensionally instead of flat. What lies on top of one another on a conventional X-ray image can thus be separated cleanly and measured precisely - the basis for reliable planning.
Identifying risks before treatment begins
Before a treatment, all risks must be identified as far as possible. With us, imaging diagnostics are carried out using low-radiation digital X-ray or three-dimensional digital volume tomography.
When planning your denture, the surrounding bone can be assessed considerably better: even before a procedure we know the bone situation and quality as well as the neighbouring anatomical structures. The course of the nerves and the floor of the maxillary sinus can be depicted precisely - three-dimensionally, without distortion and metrically accurate.
The causes of unclear symptoms can also be located and analysed better in this way. In the case of root fillings we can make a more precise long-term prognosis for individual teeth, because the three-dimensional course of the root canal system can be depicted well. Inflammation at the root tip is detected before treatment begins.
The radiation exposure is considerably lower than that of a comparable CT scan.
The most important facts at a glance
- Digital volume tomography (DVT) shows the jaw, the teeth and the course of the nerves three-dimensionally instead of flat.
- The bone situation, the course of the nerve and the floor of the maxillary sinus can be shown without distortion and measured accurately.
- This is the basis for planning implants and for assessing difficult root canal systems.
- Inflammations at root tips and the causes of unclear symptoms are also identified earlier in this way.
- The radiation exposure is considerably lower than that of a comparable CT scan.
